Children we sponsor

Smile Outreach Foundation (SOF) sponsors children throughout the year, in various different ways. Throughout our travels, should we encounter someone in particular need of specialised treatment, we aid the family in finding the most suitable clinic and funding the treatment and travel costs.

Nguyen Binh Khue

Khue was born with a congenital heart defect. When her family was no longer able to care for her, she was left at the gates of the local orphanage. In the early hours of the morning, the sisters were on their way to mass and stumbled upon baby Khue and took her in with open arms. SOF came across Khue on our 2013 dental mission and we were able to provide financial aid to assist in getting the surgery that Khue required. From 2013-2017, VN Smiles were able to provide $11,500 in support until Khue was able to make a full recovery.

Nguyen Dia Thien Phu, Mai Thi Kim Tuyen & Nguyen Thi Back Mai

These 3 girls were adopted by the orphanage at a very young age, once the orphans reach an age of 18, they are encouraged to go out into the world and make a living for themselves. On our 2013 dental mission, we had the opportunity to meet these 3 lovely young ladies whom expressed an interest in receiving an education and working within the hospitality industry upon leaving the orphanage. SOF were proud to sponsor them for a total of 4 years, covering both either living and tuition expenses totaling just under $6000. The 3 girls have since secured full time employment in the hospitality industry and are fully self sufficient.

Dinh Ba Cao

We were approached by one of Ba Cao’s family members on our 2014 dental mission, who saw a bright future for Ba Cao however they were unable to provide the education he needed to get a head start in life. They asked us for help and we were glad to be of assistance. We managed to pull together over $4,000 in donations which covered all of his tertiary education fees. Ba Cao now works as a Web Developer and manages to support his family.
